Simon Long

(would be) Web Developer.

I have built a few sites for Charities registered in the UK with the Charities Commision. I am not a designer; as you will, no doubt, notice from my portfilio.

The first site I built was for The Bey Sahara Trust. Just before I finished the site my contact said that she had to go abroad and would be in contact on her return. Unfortunately, she wasn't; and still hasn't been. C'est la vie.

Action for Street Kids was probably the most fun to build. The woman with whom I worked was a dream and kept asking for features I didn't know how to implement. The fun came in researching her requests and providing exactly what she wanted. So much so, that although I was working for nothing she sent me a gift to show her appreciation. Very rewarding.

One charity for which I built a site CTC recently came back for some changes. I always find it a dissappointment when the changes make the site look worse.

Bill is a friend, neighbour and steam train enthusiast (anorak), but I don't hold that against him. He asked me to build a gallery site for him, so that he could show off photographs taken at the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway; where he volunteers as often as possible. The site (William Field) was built using Shadowbox (a JavaScript library by Michael J I Jackson).

One of my fellow commuters found out that I built websites and asked me if I would build a site for a petitionto show the dissatisfaction we were having with the service provided by South West Trains. So I did.

The site for Friends of Pagham Harbour is not one of which I'm proud. However, I did give the client what she wanted and she was happy with the result.

I consider being called a nerd a compliment.

My favourite browser is Opera, but, because of all the plugins I tend to use Firefox for development.
